Akhilesh Yadav is the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. Akhilesh is the son of Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav. He was the Lok Sabha member for Kannauj in Uttar Pradesh until 2012 until he became the chief minister. In 2017, after a big political drama he was elected the
national president of Samajwadi Party sidelining his father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Akhilesh at the age of 38 is the youngest chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. He is a popular youth icon among his party worker. He is called by nickname  “Tipu Bhaiya” (Brother Tipu) among his party workers.
Early Life and Education

He was born on 1 July 1973 in Saifai, Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. He is the son of Samajwadi Party president Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav.  His mother’s name is Mrs Malti Devi. Malti Devi was the first wife of Mr Mulayam Singh. Malti died in May, 2013.In 2007, Mulayam Singh married to Mrs Sadhna Gupta.

He was schooled at Dholpur Military School. He has a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore affiliated to University of Mysore.He also has a Masters in environmental engineering from Sydney University. He was considered as shy student in college. He used to drive jeep in college days.

In 1999 he married with Dimple Yadav. It was a love marriage. Dimple was a college going student then. The couple has 3 kids.

Political Career

He was first elected to the Lok Sabha from Kannauj in a by election in 2000. He retained his seat in the 2004 and 2009 general elections and now after being appointed as party’s UP president is spearheading the campaign to bring back Samajwadi Party to power in 2012 in UP assembly elections.

Akhilesh is known for changing the image of Samajwadi Party after he opposed criminals to enter in his party. He had to fight enough battle inside his party for his cleaning efforts. Though, his critics says that all his efforts were to late. In 2017, Akhilesh became the president of Samajwadi Party after a big political drama. He called a joint session of his party and in that session he replaced his father forcefully from the party presidentship. However, most of the party members and sitting MLAs were in favour of Akhilesh and he had the support of his party workers.  He also sidelined his uncle Shivpal Yadav and his father’s friend Amar Singh from the party.
